Many of the firms on the list have seen large increases in the value of deals handled in 2004 over 2003. --Kaylee Powers THE PACESETTER MARCUS & MILLICHAP THE top spot on the Business Journal' s list of top commercial real estate brokers went to Marcus & Millichap, which recorded $2.5 billion worth of sale transactions in 2004 out of its Encino office. Marcus & Millichap more than doubled the dollar value of the transactions it handled, compared to 2003, in part because prices for investment properties have risen dramatically. Indeed the brokerage recorded its advances last year with virtually the same staff it had in 2003. Marcus & Millichap specializes in investment property sales in all property sectors, including multi-family, retail and industrial properties.
