Commercial Union Selects DBMX Software as Part of its Distributed Systems Management Strategy; DBMX's Enterprise Server Manager is the Database Management Component of Commercial Union's Tivoli-based Client/Server Network.

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 1996--Commercial Union Assurance Co., a leading UK-based insurance organization, has selected DBMX's Enterprise Server Manager (ESM) software to help the company control the cost of managing their geographically distributed heterogeneous Oracle7 databases.

ESM is a Tivoli application that provides distributed Oracle7 database user security and schema management features, plus event management and performance monitoring.

Commercial Union will initially use DBMX's ESM to help manage its Echo General Insurance Claims Management application. The industry leading Echo application was designed to improve the speed and service while reducing the costs of processing the company's critical claims business.

The Echo application is the first in a series of developments that will involve distributed client-server systems to provide Commercial Union customers with unique levels of service and maintain the company's competitive edge. Commercial Union's network helps them communicate with both their UK domestic market and subsidiaries throughout the world.
