Commercial Metals Company Acquires Assets of Allegheny Heat Treating Co., Inc.

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 1997--Commercial Metals Company (NYSE: CMC) headquartered in Dallas, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of substantially all of the operating assets of Allegheny Heat Treating Co., Inc. of Chicora, Pennsylvania.

The purchase was effective January 1, 1997. AHT, Inc. (AHT), a Pennsylvania corporation, will operate the facility under the Allegheny Heat Treating name as a wholly owned subsidiary of CMC.

AHT provides custom steel heat treating services to various steel mills and customers and can process approximately 30,000 tons of steel per year.
