Commerce adds more new offices to its growing community bank network.

), headquartered in Cherry Hill, is moving forward with its ambitious plans to expand the bank's scope of service in Philadelphia and Southeastern Pennsylvania.

On Aug. 21, Commerce opened a new Philadelphia New Philadelphia, city (1990 pop. 15,698), seat of Tuscarawas co., E Ohio, on the Tuscarawas River, in a coal and clay area; founded 1804, inc. 1833.  branch in Delaware County. Construction of another new Commerce office in Chichester also is under way. The three new locations will boost the total of Commerce branches in Pennsylvania to 11.

At a time when many banks are closing branches and shifting their customer focus, Commerce Chairman and President Vernon W. Hill strongly believes the future of community-based branch banking is alive and well.

"Our retail oriented approach to banking and intense focus on providing outstanding service to local customers continues to provide the momentum for our steady growth," Hill emphasized. "Because we are locally owned and operated, our ability to develop valuable long-term relationships with both retail and business customers gives us an important competitive advantage," Hill added.

Additional growth for Commerce in Pennsylvania will include branches in Collegeville, and South Philadelphia. In addition to its new and planned locations, Commerce has offices in Trooper, Whitpain, Haverford, Devon, Wayne, Springfield, Newtown Square and 19th and Market streets in Philadelphia.
