Cap Gemini Ernst & Young to Become a Preferred Global Alliance Partner

of Commerce One and Train and Deploy Dedicated Consultants to

Implement Commerce One Solutions

At the eLink 2000 Conference in Las Vegas today, Commerce One Inc. (NASDAQ: CMRC), the global leader in business-to-business electronic commerce solutions, and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young U.S. LLC, an entity of one of the largest management and IT consulting firms in the world, today announced preliminary plans to expand their existing relationship and form a strategic global alliance to help companies create e-marketplaces for business-to-business trading and electronic commerce.

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young will implement Commerce One's e-commerce solutions for companies across a variety of industries, including financial services, healthcare and high tech. Definitive agreements relating to this alliance are expected to be executed by Commerce One and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in the fourth quarter of 2000.

As a Commerce One preferred global alliance partner, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young will train and deploy hundreds of consultants worldwide to implement Commerce One e-marketplace solutions. Cap Gemini Ernst & Young will dedicate a team of several hundred Commerce One-trained specialists offering e-strategy and implementation services in 2001 and more than 1,000 by the end of 2002.

Commerce One and the Cap Gemini Ernst & Young group have already successfully collaborated on e-marketplace projects in the financial services and healthcare industries.

The two organizations created an e-marketplace for the French Banking Consortium, whose members include Societe Generale, BNP Paribas and Credit Agricole. The cross-industry e-marketplace supports a wide variety of secure online transactions and acts as a hub for the Global Trading Web in France.

The two organizations also created an e-marketplace for empactHealth that provides e-commerce capabilities for member hospitals, suppliers, licensees and retailers. Through the empactHealth e-marketplace, buyers and sellers can place and process orders, manage catalogues, fulfill order approvals and manage deliveries.
