Commerce One Customers Report Approximately $2 Billion in Auctions; Customers Realize Significant Cost Savings for Both Sourcing and Liquidation.

At the eLink 2000 conference in Las Vegas today, Commerce One, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMRC), the leader in global e-commerce for business, announced that based on customer interviews, approximately $2 billion worth of goods were traded in auctions for customers worldwide, resulting in cost savings of up to 50% on sourcing. In addition, customers have cut approximately two to three weeks off the typical negotiation cycle, enabling them to rapidly recognize profits from liquidation of excess goods.

Commerce One is currently running auctions for 22 customers worldwide, ranging from smaller net market makers to large enterprises. Auctions are among the first transactions run by e-marketplaces because they are quick and easy to set up and they demonstrate immediate return on investment--achieving better prices and reducing time spent on procurement and liquidation.

Some specific results Commerce One customers have reported include the following:

--  Artikos, the joint venture between Commerce One and Banacci,
    Mexico's leading financial group, has successfully conducted
    multiple auctions ranging from construction projects to Automated
    Teller Machines, resulting in an average savings of over 10%.

--  EventSource, the B2B e-commerce network for meeting planning, has
    achieved cost savings of over 50% using reverse auctions

--  Endesa, the second largest telco in Spain and one of the worlds 5
    largest utilities, has been running about 50 auctions per week and
    has generated hundreds of millions of dollars through their
    www.opciona.com e-marketplace in Spain and Latin America, with
    average cost savings of 16%

--  General Motors has conducted more than 100 auctions and transacted
    nearly half a billion dollars in asset recovery and sourcing
    through their e-marketplace
