During 2002, Commerce will build 40 to 45 new branches, creating 1,600 new career positions.

. Commerce's need for an additional 1,600 employees in the coming year is driven by the Bank's aggressive growth plan.

Over the next five years, Commerce expects to continue adding new personnel at that pace, hiring 8,000 new employees by 2006.

Commerce's 2002 branch expansion will occur throughout Metro New York and Metro Philadelphia. In 2001, the Bank opened its first four branches in Manhattan. The Bank plans to open at least six more branches in Manhattan during 2002, and will be expanding further in New York with the opening of its first seven branches in Nassau and Suffolk counties Suffolk County may refer to:
