Commerce Bank Expands Again in Delaware.

WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 30, 2002

) announced today that it will begin work this summer on a new Delaware headquarters as part of a major expansion effort in the state.

The two-story Commerce headquarters facility, which will include a retail banking branch, will be located at:

Kirkwood Highway (Rte. 2) & Limestone Road (Rte. 7)

New Castle County

In addition to the Delaware headquarters, Commerce will move

forward with the construction of a prototype branch at:

Hygeia Drive and Route 4, Wilmington (near Christiana

Hospital)

New Castle County

Commerce also is planning to open its first branch in Kent County - in the state capital of Dover - in early 2003.

The three new offices will bring to eight the total number of Commerce Bank locations in Delaware. Currently, the Commerce network includes branches in:

        Brandywine Hundred:                Naamans & Marsh Roads
        Wilmington:                        9th & Shipley Streets
        New Castle:                        Route 273 & Christiana Road
        Bear:                              Route 7 & Songsmith Drive
        Talleyville:                       Route 202 & Silverside Road
