) declared a 9% increase in its annual cash dividend rate from $.55 per share to $.60 per share of common stock, it was announced today by Vernon W. Hill, II, Chairman of the multi-bank holding company based here.

Said Hill, "our financial performance this year has been marked by record earnings and we would like our shareholders to share in our success. This increase marks the eleventh consecutive year that we have increased our cash dividend".

The quarterly dividend of $.15 is payable January 18, 2002 to shareholders of record January 4, 2002.
