 Business Readers:

We are so pleased as a community to be included as one of the "Community Supplement" cities chosen by Arkansas Business.

The Greater Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, with more than 1,500 business members, is pleased to be a part of, and catalyst for, the tremendous growth that is being experienced. The teamwork (product, software, tool) Teamwork - A SASD tool from Sterling Software, formerly CADRE Technologies, which supports the Shlaer/Mellor Object-Oriented method and the Yourdon-DeMarco, Hatley-Pirbhai, Constantine and Buhr notations.  that it takes for business prosperity includes not only the business community, but city and county government, city utilities, the university, our school districts and the health care community. By working together and having mutual trust in the programs that have been put together by local business leadership, we have been able to obtain benefits for all through our growth.

Ten years ago, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget The Office of Management and Budget (OMB), formerly the Bureau of the Budget, is an agency of the federal government that evaluates, formulates, and coordinates management procedures and program objectives within and among departments and agencies of the Executive Branch.  designated Craighead County as the Jonesboro Metropolitan Statistical Area. At that time, we were the smallest MSA (Metropolitan Service Area) An urban area with at least 50,000 people plus surrounding counties. There are 306 MSAs and 428 RSAs (rural service areas) in the U.S. MSAs and RSAs are used to allocate cellular licenses.  in Arkansas and one of the smallest in the country. This year, OMB OMB

expanded the Jonesboro MSA to include Poinsett County, which pushes our total population for the MSA to more than 100,000.

This past January Expansion Management magazine ranked the Jonesboro MSA as 23rd in its hottest 50 cities to relocate re·lo·cate

This recognition is important, not only to Jonesboro and northeast Arkansas, but to the state as a whole, due to the fact that Arkansas is considered by many site location consultants as one region.

We see the future as being very bright as Arkansas moves into a position to attract all facets of the automobile industry automobile industry, the business of producing and selling self-powered vehicles, including passenger cars, trucks, farm equipment, and other commercial vehicles. . East Arkansas is well-positioned to take advantage of this, as already noted by the Denso project in Osceola.

Locally, we currently have more than 1,000 acres of industrial park land available. We are fortunate to be home to many of the country's largest manufacturers, as well as Nestle USA, which began production in March of this year.

Opportunities abound for communities that are willing to have an "enlightened self-interest Enlightened self-interest is a philosophy in ethics which states that persons who act to further the interests of others (or the interests of the group or groups to which they belong), ultimately serve their own self-interest. " among their businesses and invest the time and finances in their not-for-profit development organizations like the Greater Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce.
