Commander Warns of Enemy's Soft War against Iran.

Summary: TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari on Sunday cautioned against enemies' plots to confront the Islamic Revolution through methods and tactics of soft war.

"During the eight years of the Sacred Defense (i.e. the eight-year Iraqi imposed war on Iran in 1980s), people's devotion manifested in their defense and presence in the frontlines. But today, given the current conditions of the society, soft war and political war in the world, we should confront the enemies in cultural-political fronts and this requires much work in areas of culture," Jafari said in the northeastern city of Mashhad.He further reiterated the necessity for cultural activity in the Iranian society and employment of the great experiences gained in the 8-year imposed Iraqi war against Iran as prerequisites for standing up to the enemies' soft plots.Earlier this month, Jafari had said that IRGC and Basij are ready to confront the threats that endanger the principles of the Islamic Republic."Today, nobody dares to directly confront the Islamic Republic (of Iran), instead, they (the enemies) are after soft methods to change the nature of the Islamic Republic. The IRGC and Basij are inherently tasked with confronting such threats," he added.Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Ataollah Salehi also reiterated in mid October that enemies have begun a kind of soft war against Iran that needs to be strongly repelled by the Islamic Republic.Increasing public vigilance and boosting national unity and cooperation contribute a major help in defusing enemies' plots, Salehi said at the time.
