Commack shopping center to have 2 new stores. (Retail New York).

Claire's Stores, Inc., a leading international specialty retailer offering value priced costume jewelry, accessories and cosmetics to fashion aware young adults and teens, and GameStop, a top video game and entertainment software specialty retailer, have joined the tenant roster at Mayfair Shopping Center in Commack, New York, announced Stanley Bernstein of Levin Management Corporation, leasing and managing agent.

The latest national retailers to lease space at the 240,000-SF, Jericho Turnpike property, Claire's will occupy 1,280 SF, while GameStop will occupy an endcap location of 2,000 SF.

"As a result of an aggressive repositioning and marketing effort, this center's tenant list now includes many of today's most desirable retailers. The occupancy rate is 98.5%, with only one 5,300-SF store available for lease." said Bernstein.

Mayfair Shopping Center, renovated by Levin Management in 2000, projects a totally updated look, as multi-million dollar capital improvements completely modernized the property. Anchored by Waldbaum's, which was brought in to replace a small Grand Union, Mayfair now features a mix of national tenants such as Gap, Gap Kids, Ann Taylor Loft, Talbots Outlet, MJM Designer Shoes, Sherwin Williams and Outback, as well as a diverse group of local retail and service tenants. Prior to the renovation, the tenant roster was mainly composed of local merchants, and there was significant vacancy.

"We have been careful to be very selective about the synergy of the tenant mix at this center as it is so important to consumers' satisfaction with their shopping experience and the long-term success of the property," said Bernstein.
