CommVault Systems opens Canadian market with sales in excess of US$1 million to the Department of National Defense and others.


EATONTOWN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1996--CommVault Systems announced today that it has opened the Canadian market with five new sales which aggregately exceed US$1 million.

The largest portion of the sales went to the Department of National Defense, with the purchase of three complete systems; two were purchased for DND headquarters in Ottawa and one was purchased for the Canadian Forces Base A Canadian Forces Base or CFB (French Base des forces canadiennes or BFC) refers to a military installation of the Canadian Forces. For a facility to qualify as a Canadian Forces Base, it must station one or more major units (eg.  Valcartier, located in the province of Quebec. The second largest sale was to Teleglobe Canada. All the CommVault Systems CommVault Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CVLT) is a United States based company specializing in data and storage management software. Created in 1988 as a development group in AT&T's Bell Labs, the group produced AT&T's in-house backup software, Automatic Backup, Archive and Recovery  have been shipped and are in the process of being installed.

The Canadian sales to date have comprised five basic CommVault Systems which are composed of a jukebox, server and multiple software products. CommVault Systems were selected for their multi-platform backup and recovery capabilities, and CommVault's software, which includes Backup, Data Migrator, DB Vault On-line and 3D Archive. Together, these products completely eliminate the potential for lost data.
