EMC Symmetrix Enterprise Storage Systems -

CommVault Systems Inc.(R), an industry-leading provider of enterprise data and storage management software solutions for heterogeneous computing environments, today announced the Company has joined the EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) E-Infostructure(TM) Developers Program. This alliance will offer enterprise IT organizations the ability to extend the value of their storage management investments through integration of CommVault's industry-leading CommVault(R) Galaxy(TM) Enterprise 2000 data and storage management software suite with EMC's industry leading Symmetrix Enterprise Storage Systems.

As a member of the EMC E-Infostructure Developers Program, CommVault enjoys access to a wide range of EMC's Symmetrix-specific application programming interfaces (APIs), enabling seamless interoperability that combines the technology expertise of both companies to better protect and leverage customers' critical information infrastructures. CommVault is currently developing integrated solutions with EMC TimeFinder(TM) software. Availability of this solution is expected in the second half 2000.

"CommVault is proud to be working with EMC to ensure that our customers are equipped with advanced, interoperable storage management solutions that optimize enterprise data protection in heterogeneous environments," said Eric Rice, director of strategic alliances, CommVault Systems. "This alliance is an important step in CommVault's strategy to partner with the recognized industry leaders to deliver complementary products and technologies that make the management of heterogeneous storage for enterprise customers easier and more accessible."

"EMC and CommVault are committed to providing customers with integrated tools that allow them to better manage and protect their electronic information infrastructure - their E-Infostructure," said Linda Wright, Director of the EMC E-Infostructure Developers Program. "As a recognized storage management software technology leader, CommVault is a valuable addition to this program. By integrating EMC Enterprise Storage with the Galaxy Enterprise 2000 product, CommVault will extend storage management functionality and make it easier for our customers to manage their exponentially growing volumes of data."

CommVault's Galaxy Enterprise 2000 product is the first fully-integrated enterprise storage management solution built from the ground up on Microsoft's Windows platform and designed specifically for managing large heterogeneous computing environments. By presenting a single, unified logical interface for viewing and managing data and storage resource information, the CommVault Galaxy Enterprise 2000 solution eliminates many of the management difficulties that traditional backup products encounter due to their physical device orientation. This approach is especially important as increasing numbers of today's data-intensive enterprises move from server-centric to data-centric solutions, such as Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
