CommVault(R) Systems, Inc., a provider of unified enterprise data management solutions, announced today expanded support for Windows-centric enterprises with its new "Shadow Explorer" software. The powerful new utility is the industry's first software product that fully leverages the capabilities of Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS) and Virtual Disk Service (VDS) capabilities. CommVault's Shadow Explorer software is hardware agnostic, application aware, and provides the ability to easily manage hardware and software shadow copies created by Microsoft's VSS. The software shadow copies can also be moved to other Windows Server 2003 hosts through VDS.

CommVault's Shadow Explorer software has a wide range of uses for customers deploying or migrating to Windows Server 2003. Customers using Shadow Explorer can easily create transportable shadow copies that can be moved between any SAN aware Windows Server within the enterprise or to a specific drive or array of drives within a server. In addition to the Windows File System, CommVault Shadow Explorer software can assist in managing Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. The utility makes shadow copying Exchange Server and SQL Server 2000 data on Windows Server 2003 as easy as moving a file from one machine to another.
