Galaxy software reduces the need for human mediation in the data backup and restoration processes and allows administrators to recover lost or corrupted data quickly and with minimal operational downtime.

HRDC's search for a data protection solution was spurred by its planned upgrade of 30,000 employees to a new email and networking system. The upgrade required the consolidation of hundreds of local networks onto 13 SAN-attached "Solution Centers." Primary HRDC selection criteria included: full support for both UNIX and Microsoft environments; tight integration for applications such as Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory, and, most importantly, the flexibility to provide both centralized data management and the option to let users manage data at regional and local levels.
