CommScope Addresses FTTH Demarcation Issues with New BrightPath(R) NID.

HICKORY, N.C. -- CommScope, Inc. (NYSE:CTV), a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks, introduces the BrightPath([R]) Network Interface Device (NID), providing broadband operators with a customer premise housing that offers superior fiber management, cable retention and weatherability to meet the demanding needs of a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network.

The BrightPath system is an innovative solution for FTTx access designed to integrate seamlessly within an existing hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) network used by cable operators. As part of the total BrightPath solution, the NID performs as an environmentally protected housing for the network interface unit (NIU), which is the heart of the BrightPath system. The NID now complements the BrightPath optical tap, creating a system approach to residential and business FTTx applications. The tap features a branch cable option, allowing system operators to provide business services or extend the network to remote areas.

The most significant benefit of the BrightPath NID is the ability to provide a systematic and organized solution at the premise location, according to Carl Meyerhoefer, vice president, Marketing and New Business Development, CommScope Broadband division.
