. Designed to reduce field preparation by more than 50 percent of the conventional time required to prepare drop and headend cables for connectorization, the new XpressPrep supports the CommScope legacy of helping service providers complete their jobs with optimum efficiency.

Reducing field preparation to three quick steps from the standard four, the innovative XpressPrep design bonds the outer tape shield of a "tri" or "quad" shield design to the cable jacket, enabling it to be removed along with the jacket. It's as easy as one-two-three: 1) Strip 2) Comb back the braid 3) Install connectors.

DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) is used in Europe and DOCSIS is used in N America. ), CommScope Broadband division, time studies and actual field applications have shown that XpressPrep reduces by more than 50 percent the time involved preparing cable ends in tri and quad shield designs.

"At the request of our customers, CommScope has developed XpressPrep to significantly lower installation time and ultimately save costs," said Wells. "Initial customer feedback has been impressive. By cutting time, we can help customers make service connection and equipment installation that much faster. Reduction of steps while lowering installation costs--that's a benefitting combination for our customers."
