Radstone Technology has announced the arrival of two new communication PMC boards, the latest members of the EMPower family of boards based on PowerPC technology. The boards, the PMCQ1F and the EPMCQ2F, feature front I/O connectors for easy accessibility and are offered across a range of three convection cooled ruggedisation levels. The PMCQ1F features Motorola's QUICC device, which allows four high-speed sync/async serial channels, plus an optional DDC enhanced Mini-Ace for single-channel dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553 channel. The second board features a Power QUICC II device, providing four high-speed sync/async serial channels and a single 10/100BaseT Ethernet channel. Embedded within the Power QUICC II is a PowerPC 603e core that can be used to run communication software packages, thereby removing these processing tasks from the host board.
