Coming straight to the point. (Digest). The new CQD Mk V Atac (top) from Masters of Defense is a fixed-blade advanced tactical fighter for those who don't have time to spend on the small details during combat. Special Forces trainer and Close Quarters Defense[R] specialist Duane Dieter designed both weapons seen here, and a host of others found on www.mastersofdefense.com. The Mk V offers 17.5 centimetres of re-curved A-2 high carbon blade (easily field sharpened) and is as mean as it looks. It was formed to enhance chopping or hacking, is double edged for effecting back cuts. The two side hilts act as guards against incoming strikes and allow special trapping techniques. The hardened hilts can also be used for prying or to penetrate cans or bladders, or used offensively as a knuckle for strikes or limited penetration. The weapon's smaller brother, the Mk VI Stinger, offers the same tactical features, but with an 11.43-centimetre blade and carries a partial serration for aggressive slicing. The handles are textured glass filled nylon, resistant to petroleum distillates, insecticides, heat to 205[degrees] C, they are also non-conductive and feature hardened steel buttcaps. The Mk V is targeted toward recon-type missions, while the smaller Mk VI is more adapted to stealth operations. Jim Ray, President of Masters of Defense, warns, "The Mk V is a devastating piece of equipment when used in close quarters scenarios". One should probably not argue with that theory.
