 by inviting four companies--The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet The Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) is one of the UK's foremost ballet companies, based at the Birmingham Hippodrome in Birmingham, where it enjoys custom-built facilities such as the Jerwood Centre for the Prevention and Treatment of Dance Injuries and the , K Ballet of Tokyo (in its U.S. debut), and The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago--to dance twelve ballets plus assorted pas de deux pas de deux

Dance for two performers. A characteristic part of classical ballet, it includes an adagio, or slow dance, by the ballerina and her partner; solo variations by the male dancer and then the ballerina; and a coda, or
 by the English choreographer July 6-17 at the Metropolitan Opera House. Included will be the rarely toured Dante Sonata, Enigma Variations, Cinderella, and The Two Pigeons. Spoleto Festival USA is an annual 17-day festival of the arts which produces opera, and presents dance, theater, classical music, and jazz.
, which runs May 28-June 13 in Charleston, SC, include Eugene Ionesco's The Chairs staged by David Gordon, Big Dance Theatre, Alvin Ailey American, Dance Theater and Nina Ananiashvili and her Moscow Ballet Theatre in Stanton Welch's Green and Alexei Ratmansky's Leah * Stephen Petronio will choreograph his first work for the Royal Danish Ballet Royal Danish Ballet, one of the oldest major ballet companies, established at the opening of Denmark's Royal Theater in Copenhagen in 1748. The company was developed over the centuries by three great masters.  for the company's 2005-06 season * The San Francisco Ballet's new Nutcracker, which will be choreographed by artistic director Helgi Tomasson, will be unveiled on December 17 at the War Memorial Opera House.
