Comet Systems Unleashes CometZone.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 1999--

Teams with FortuneCity, Comedy Central's South Park, United Media's

Dilbert, and Others to Launch the World's First "Cursor Portal"

Comet Systems today secured its position in the exploding personal home page community by opening CometZone (http://www.cometzone.com), a site that provides homesteaders with free tools to transform the "arrow" cursor on their Websites into any custom image found in the CometZone content library. CometZone boasts an initial library of over 300 cursor images, including some of the most recognizable icons in pop culture. Founding content partners on CometZone include Comedy Central (who are delivering South Park cursors), United Media (Dilbert and Peanuts), Universal Press Syndicate Universal Press Syndicate, an Andrews McMeel Universal company, is the world's largest independent syndicate and provides syndication for a number of lifestyle and opinion columns, comics, and various other content.  (Garfield, Doonesbury, and Foxtrot foxtrot

Membership in CometZone will be stimulated through a partnership with FortuneCity, a leading online community network with over 2.5 million members. FortuneCity today announced a co-branded version of CometZone to be added to its Web builder area. FortuneCity will be the official free home page provider at CometZone.

Comet Systems is the only company offering such a cursor tool for Websites and expects that -- because CometZone is so easy to use - "cursorizing" one's home page will soon become a standard design element for any new Website, along with page counters and guest books.

"CometZone will take personal Web publishing Creating a Web site and placing it on the Web server. A Web site is a collection of HTML pages with the home page typically named INDEX.HTML. Web sites are designed using Web authoring software which provides a graphical layout capability or by hand coding in HTML or both.  to a new level," said CometZone's General Manager, Adam Solomon. "There is an explosion in personal Website development going on and we are confident that budding Web designers will use CometZone to integrate compelling, interactive content into their sites."

Because CometZone allows content partners to monitor the distribution of their intellectual property, companies that are normally wary of propagating their content on home pages are embracing cursor distribution. Unlike most online graphic files that can be altered by Web designers, the custom cursors provided on CometZone are delivered from CometZone's secure servers and cannot be manipulated.

Larry Lieberman, VP of Business Development at Comedy Central, commented, "CometZone helps us to extend the distribution of our content to millions of South Park fans. This is a great way for us to promote our properties through online communities."

Marty Chavkin, VP of Marketing for FortuneCity, added: "We've been fans of the Comet Cursor for some time now and are excited that we are able to partner with Comet Systems in this new venture. We have no doubt that our members will find CometZone a creative and easy way to make their sites unique."
