The $59 billion-asset bank is among the 20 largest banking companies in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , and had $400 million in loan originations as of December 31, 2002. After a two-year search for a new loan origination system, Comerica selected Fiserv for its strong commitment to the financial-services industry and for easyLENDER's ability to simplify the bank's lending processes.

easyLENDER Mortgage is a complete and easy-to-use system that handles lending functions from the point of sale to delivery to investors, thus enabling Comerica to reduce the number of business applications its staff must learn and maintain. In addition, because all loan data now resides in a single easyLENDER database, the new loan origination system will contribute to improved staff productivity by eliminating redundant data entry and generating more comprehensive management reports.

Comerica also will benefit from the seamless exchange of loan-application data and status information between easyLENDER and the bank's mortgage-lending Web site. Using easyLENDER's middleware solution, easyCONNECT(TM), the bank will benefit from enhanced Form 1003 loan-application import functionality that enables its loan processors to access more customer-originated information, thereby accelerating the loan cycle. During processing, easyLENDER will return loan-status information to the bank's lending Web site, thus keeping Web-based borrowers regularly informed about the status of their loan applications.

"Customers expect us to close their loans as quickly as possible," said David B. Green, First Vice President of Comerica Bank. "easyLENDER enables us to gather the information we need, manage it efficiently and make fast lending decisions."

"We're pleased to have Comerica, a nationally recognized financial institution, join our easyLENDER client family," said Dan Welbaum, Fiserv Lending Solutions Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for easyLENDER Products. "By complementing Comerica's focus on providing excellent service and implementing highly integrated lending solutions, easyLENDER will help streamline every aspect of Comerica's mortgage-lending business."
