Comedian runs 43 marathons in 51 days


Actor and comedian Eddie Izzard Edward John "Eddie" Izzard (born February 7, 1962) is an English[1] stand-up comedian and actor, known for his cross-dressing. His comedic style is expressed in rambling, surreal monologue and self-referential pantomime.  met Prime Minister Gordon Brown Wednesday after running 43 marathons in 51 days for charity.

The double Emmy Award winner, not previously noted for his athleticism, carried out just five weeks' training for the epic feat. Typically, runners are advised to take up to three weeks' rest between marathons.

Explaining how he got through it, Izzard added: "I just had to keep going, I just get determined to do strange things."
