Come Walk With Us -- 5th Annual Family Walk for DuPage Habitat for Humanity(R), Saturday, September 15, 2007.WHEATON, Ill. -- DuPage Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity, nonprofit ecumenical Christian organization that enables low-income people to own affordable, livable housing. Headquartered in Americus, Ga., it was founded in 1976 by businessman Millard Fuller and his wife. ([R]), a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International Habitat For Humanity International (HFHI) (generally referred to as Habitat for Humanity or simply Habitat) is an international, ecumenical Christian, non-governmental, non-profit organization devoted to building "simple, decent, and affordable" housing. ([R]), is pleased to announce its 5th Annual Family Walk for DuPage Habitat, sponsored by Doubletree Guest Suites and Unilever on Saturday, September 15, 2007. Proceeds from the walk will help DuPage Habitat provide homes for families in need. The walk begins at 9:30 AM at the Doubletree Suites Hotel, 2111 Butterfield Road in Downers Grove Downers Grove, village (1990 pop. 46,858), Du Page co., NE Ill.; settled 1832, inc. 1873. Downers Grove has undergone population growth and commercial development that include the construction of new office complexes. (just west of I-355 on the south side of Butterfield Road) and follows a 1.6 mile path around the hotel campus. Participants can walk as many laps as they like until 10:30 AM. DuPage Habitat is challenging each participant to raise $200.00 in pledges. For every $100.00 raised, participants receive one raffle ticket for a chance to win one of the many prizes to be raffled off at the completion of the walk. The goal of Family Walk is two-fold: (1) bringing friends of DuPage Habitat together for a day of fun, and (2) raising urgently needed funds which will be used to rehab two houses in 2007 and purchasing additional properties for future building projects so more families can experience the joy of home ownership.
