Come Together: The Official John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Guide to Music and Video Featuring John Legend, Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am, Macy Gray, Eagles' Don Felder, Provides Insight into the Lennon Bus on Its Tenth Anniversary

NEW YORK -- More than a quarter of a century after his untimely death, John Lennon's legacy lives on through the work of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, which begins its tenth anniversary of touring the country, providing free hands-on workshops, giving students a chance to express themselves through songwriting and music and video production.

The newly published book, Come Together: The Official John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Guide to Music and Video (Thomson Course Technology) is part how-to, part celebrity interviews, part technological showcase, and part travelogue. The book is filled with photographs and features an accompanying DVD with popular recording artist interviews as well as some of the original compositions recorded and performed by teens and tips of the trade. The audience for the book includes music aficionados, fans, students, songwriters, producers, engineers, teachers, anyone with an interest in music and some of its best-known successes.

With the support of Yoko Ono Lennon and the corporate sponsorship of some of today's biggest names in music and video hardware and software, the non-profit John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a professional mobile recording and multimedia studio outfitted with the latest in audio and video technological advances as well as a full complement of traditional musical instruments. Since 1998, the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus has provided free hands-on programs to hundreds of thousands of people at high schools, colleges, Boys and Girls Clubs, music festivals, concerts, conventions and community organizations. Selected students work with the staff of onboard engineers to write an original song, record and mix the song, and create a music video of the song's performance - all in one day! They take with them the extraordinary experience and a Maxell DVD of the music video. Over the years many celebrity recording artists have worked with kids, providing their musical and production expertise as well as guidance and encouragement.

The Bus is made possible by an agreement with Yoko Ono Lennon, who wrote the foreword to the book. "This is precisely the kind of project that John would have loved," said Yoko Ono Lennon. "I support this project 100 percent for this very reason." She calls the book "a heartfelt tribute to the Bus and its mission, as well as a great introduction to today's technology for interested songwriters young and old." Yoko has worked with students on the Bus, and she is so proud of its achievements that she has just provided the seed money for a second bus, which is anticipated to hit the road in 2008.

A portion of the proceeds from the book will go towards supporting the non-profit Lennon Bus and its mission.
