Comdisco acquires CSC CompuSource's Disaster Recovery business; will also provide disaster recovery services to parent, Computer Sciences Corp.


ROSEMONT, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 1996--Comdisco Disaster Recovery Services today announced it entered into an agreement to acquire the assets and contracts of the disaster recovery division of CSC (Card Security Code) A three- or four-digit number printed on the back of credit cards for security purposes. Called "Card Verification Value" (CVV) by Visa, "Card Validation Code" (CVC) by MasterCard and "Card Identification (CID) by American Express and Discover,  CompuSource, a unit of Computer Sciences Corporation. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, Comdisco will acquire customer contracts for CSC CompuSource's alternate facility (hotsite) recovery services, check processing recovery services, Provident mobile recovery and related assets. In a separate agreement, Comdisco was awarded contracts to provide disaster recovery services for CSC's North American North American

Cary, NC-based CSC CompuSource served the disaster recovery and mobile recovery services market for 14 years, specializing in low-end IBM mainframe IBM mainframes, though perceived as synonymous with mainframe computers in general due to their marketshare, are now technically and specifically IBM's line of business computers that can all trace their design evolution to the IBM System/360.  recovery.
