Comco's AccuFlo micro-abrasive blaster offers tight control over powder volume.

Burbank, CA-based Comco Inc., a provider of micro-abrasive blasting technology, has launched its new AccuFlo blaster. (Micro-abrasive blasting can be used for deburring needles; selectively removing polymer and PTFE coating from catheters and guide wires; removing encapsulation material from pacemakers; and removing remelt and oxidation on laser-cut stents.) The AccuFlo is equipped with patented Simoom Technology, a system of mixing air and abrasive to improve flow consistency. The result, the company said, is tighter control over the volume of powder flowing through the machine, giving the AccuFlo the flexibility to be used in a wider range of applications as well as giving it the increased powder flow to cut processing times on traditional ones. The AccuFlo features a new ergonomically designed hand piece for increased comfort and fewer wear points to provide a longer life. In addition, a larger media tank features a clear top for easy checking of the powder level. Furthermore, easy-to-read LCD counters keep track of blast cycles and hours of use, providing simple milestones for maintenance. An open design with color-coded air lines and connectors also help facilitate regular maintenance.
