Comcast-Spectacor Unveils Ticketmaster's Innovative Ticketing System and Barcoding Technology for First Union Center and Spectrum in Philadelphia.PHILADELPHIA--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Sept. 29, 1999-- Comcast-Spectacor, owner and operator of the First Union Center and Spectrum, is scheduled to launch Ticketmaster's new state-of-the-art automated access control ticketing system at both of its Philadelphia facilities to provide superior real-time ticket validation, as well as attendance and inventory control. Patrons attending events at either of Comcast-Spectacor facilities receive Ticketmaster tickets printed with a unique barcode which is scanned upon entrance to the venue. Ticketmaster's access control system validates the barcoded event tickets in real-time, providing the venues with immediate inventory and attendance management, including the ability to thwart counterfeit tickets; expedite replacement of lost tickets; effectively monitor fans' arrival times to the event; eliminate use of wrong day or event tickets; and more. "This is an incredible system which provides us with accurate ticket counts, pertinent information, as well as the ability to fight counterfeit tickets," said Peter Luukko, President of Comcast-Spectacor Facilities. "We're working closely with Ticketmaster to customize the system as our particular requirements and capabilities evolve." "We're continually developing new ticketing technology in order to provide our clients and entertainment fans with insurmountable service and convenience," said Dave Henderson
Comcast-Spectacor will unveil the new Ticketmaster ticketing system on Saturday, October 2, when the Philadelphia Flyers host the Ottawa Senators at the First Union Center beginning at 7:00 PM. The system was tested during Bruce Springsteen's six-night engagement, which concluded last weekend.
