Comcast Takes Governor's Literacy Message From ``Coast-to-Coast;'' One-Million Dollar Advertising Contribution Will Help Communicate Initiatives Throughout Florida; Comcast Employees to Lead Statewide Reading Festival in October.

NAPLES, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2003

Comcast Cable Communications, Inc., the country's leading cable and broadband communications provider, today announced its statewide partnership with Governor Jeb Bush John Ellis "Jeb" Bush (born February 11, 1953) is an American politician, and was the 43rd Governor of Florida as well as the first Republican to be re-elected to that office.  Initiative. The company, which three-years ago served as a founding sponsor of the program, is donating $1-million in advertising support to be used in communicating the Governor's initiatives on literacy throughout the state of Florida.

Comcast will produce and telecast a series of public service announcements and special programming about the literacy initiative on its cable systems reaching approximately 1.7-million homes in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Miami, the west Florida

"The purpose of the Family Literacy Initiative is to establish literacy as a value for every family in Florida," said Filemon Lopez, regional vice president of the Comcast South Florida Region. "Comcast and our South Florida employees want to help every family in the state understand that the home is the child's first school, the parent is the child's first teacher and reading is the child's first subject."

"With the recent acquisition of AT&T Broadband, we are now able to share this important message with new Comcast customers in Jacksonville, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and the Florida Keys Florida Keys, chain of coral and limestone islands and reefs, c.150 mi (240 km) long, extending from Virginia Key, S of Miami Beach, to Key West, and forming the southern extremity of Florida. ."

In addition to promoting the literacy program through cable television, Comcast and its more than 4,000 Florida employees will lead a statewide reading festival on Saturday, October 4, 2003, as part of "Comcast Cares Day," a company-wide community service event started in 2001. Last year's reading festival with the Bonita Bonita (Spanish and Portuguese for "beautiful") is the name of:
