Combs, Larry and Eddie Daniels: Crossing the Line.


Combs, Larry and Eddie Daniels Eddie Daniels (born 19 October 1941) is a prolific American musician. Though he is most well-known as a jazz clarinet player, he has also played alto and tenor saxophones , as well as classical music on the clarinet.

Daniels was born in New York City to a Jewish family.

This is an interesting jazz and classical mix, with music by Ponchielli, Pleyel, Goodwin, W.F. Bach, and William O. Smith representing the latter and music by Bud Powell Earl Rudolph "Bud" Powell (September 271924 – July 311966 in New York City) was one of the most influential pianists in the history of jazz. Along with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie he was instrumental in the development of bebop, and his virtuosity as a pianist led many , Bill Evans, Thelonius Monk, and Andre Victor Correa representing the former. ," where the two performers essentially horse around. Out of the total 70+ minute program, roughly 25 minutes are devoted to jazz.

The sound is very nice, with good focus (important with a pair of soloists like this), equally good detail (it is easy to hear fingering and even breathing at times during the slower classical pieces), and proper soundstaging. It has to be considered a must for serious clarinet enthusiasts.
