Comark and LIN Television sign DTV agreement.SOUTHWICK, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 25, 1997--Comark Communications Inc. and LIN Television have jointly announced an agreement for Comark to provide digital transmitters and services to LIN Television for their current and future owned and operated stations. The announcement was made by Richard E. Fiore Jr., vice president of domestic sales of Comark, and Robert C. Ogren, vice president of operations of LIN Television. LIN, based in Providence, R.I., has nine owned and operated stations throughout the country: KXAS, Dallas/Fort Worth; WISH, Indianapolis; WTNH, New Haven/Hartford; WOOD, Grand Rapids Grand Rapids, city (1990 pop. 189,126), seat of Kent co., SW central Mich., on the Grand River; inc. 1850. The second largest city in the state, it is a distribution, wholesale, and industrial center for an area that yields fruit, dairy products, farm produce, ; WIVB WIVB Washington International Business Venture , Buffalo; WAVY, Portsmouth/Norfolk; KXAN, Austin; WAND, Decatur; WANE, Ft. Wayne. They also have four LMAs: KXPX, Dallas; WBNE, Hartford; WVBT WVBT West Virginians for Better Transportation , Norfolk; KNVA, Austin. LIN Television was formed on Dec. 28, 1994 as the result of a spin off from its parent, LIN Broadcasting. We expect them to continue to be a leader with digital era products as they have been with NTSC (National TV Standards Committee) The committee that developed the television standards for the U.S, which are also used in Canada, Japan, South Korea and several Central and South American countries.
