Comarco Wireless Test Solutions Debuts HSDPA Capabilities in Three Scanner Offerings; HSDPA Available in Seven.Five, Prizm and OEM Versions.IRVINE, Calif. -- Comarco (NASDAQ NASDAQ in full National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations U.S. market for over-the-counter securities. (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) test capability is now available with its 3G scanning receiver, which comes in its three major product offerings, Seven.Five, Prizm and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and Scanners. This capability may be purchased as an upgrade to already purchased products or as a new system. Due to Comarco's 3G Scanning Receiver's inherent architecture and capabilities, upgrading existing products to HSDPA (or any other technology, band or feature for that matter) is simply a matter of a license file being downloaded to the unit. Unlike other scanning receivers, the 3G scanning receiver's hardware already supports all current and future technologies and simply requires software updates to provide the latest and greatest feature set. Some of our OEM customers who have over-the-air capability in their tools can even utilize this feature to update scanning receivers that are in the field. HSDPA is Very Fast HSDPA is a very fast (up to 14.4 Mbps theoretical maximum speed) downlink technology that is currently being tested worldwide. It is generally thought to be the next major advance in wireless packet-based data service. By comparison, the current standard for packet-based data service is Ev-DO (Evolution Data Only) technology, with typical downlink speeds of 500 to 700 kbps and theoretical maximum speeds of 2 Mbps. The uplink version of HSDPA, HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) See HSPA. (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) service is generally thought to be two to three years off in the future but is also being looked at by Comarco to understand potential new product offerings. "We think of HSDPA as being a 3.5G technology that will be in wide use by mid-2006," says Greg Maton, senior vice president and GM for Comarco Wireless Test Solutions. "As has always been the case, Comarco test systems and scanners are always ready to evaluate and implement the latest technologies as soon as they go into serious trials." Typical applications for HSDPA-enabled scanners and test systems from Comarco include: site surveys, coverage analysis, spectrum sweeps, interference analysis, pre-deployment lab testing, CW tests, initial RF planning and network rollouts.
