ComStream establishes first satellite communications service center in China.SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 28, 1994--To serve existing customers and secure future business in China, ComStream has established the first service center for satellite communications products in China. The China Radio and TV Corporation for International Techno-Economic Cooperation (CRTV CRTV Cameroon Radio Television CRTV Cathode Ray Television ), an electronics import/export company owned by the China Ministry of Radio, Film and Television, is ComStream's partner in the new venture. The 600-square-meter facility in Beijing is a center for telephone support, training, repair and warehousing of ComStream equipment. Daniel Drouin, ComStream's technical manager for China, is in charge of the center, which represents an $800,000 investment by ComStream. "This shows our commitment to our customers and telecommunication providers in China," said Drouin. "No other satellite equipment manufacturer or integrator has such a facility here." Included in the service center is an "in-bond" warehouse that allows ComStream products to be shipped directly in and out of the center, resulting in faster service for customers. Customs paperwork will be cleared in-house under the supervision of CRTV. A staff of 17 is planned for the center, including six field engineers and four repair technicians, all of whom will be hired locally.
