Some directories boast more listings, but double count entries in multiple categories, ComFind does not. ComFind also has the distinction of having the largest number of business Web site links for yellow-page-type directories added Shatford.

ComFind offers a Japanese translation of its directory and plans to add other foreign language versions soon. "We will be adding the main European European

Veteran webmasters know Comfind and post their client listings for new business sites. An average of 800 businesses per day register their sites and companies with the ComFind directory.

ComFind began in September, 1995, with 500,000 listings and today advertises more than 12 million businesses in 6000 categories plus links to more than 100,000 business Web sites.

"ComFind is a no-nonsense directory aimed at simplicity and ease-of-use," said Will Shatford, who heads the technical side of the Focused Presence husband-and-wife team that created the directory. "ComFind's search engine is unique in that it offers a variety of simple entry and point-and-click geographic options to aid even the novice in narrowing or expanding search results.

"Searches for businesses can be conducted on a world-wide basis or narrowed to as small as a 3 to 5 mile radius."
