France Telecom Cable Interactive to use Com21's ComUNITY Access

System for Large-scale Data-Over-Cable Service in France

, a Com21 worldwide systems integration partner, has received an order from France Telecom Cable Interactive (subsidiary of France Telecom Cable in charge of the deployment of on-line services over broadband cable networks) for the Com21 ComUNITY Access system to be commercially deployed in its data-over-cable service.

France Telecom Cable operates CATV (Community Antenna TV) The original name for cable TV. It used a single antenna at the highest location in the community in order to deliver a quality signal to homes in areas with hilly terrain or other interference.  systems that cover 1,700,000 households nationwide and will begin initial service rollout in the five cities of Angers, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Marseille and St. Quentin en Yvelines.
