Com21 Names New Chief Operating Officer.

Com21, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMTO CMTO College of Massage Therapists of Ontario ), a leading global provider of system solutions for the broadband access See broadband and wireless broadband.  market, announced today the appointment of Ron Foster as chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
, strengthening the company's existing focus on delivering quality broadband products and services for its growing worldwide customer base.

As chief operating officer, Foster is responsible for Engineering, Operations and Customer Service. He will report directly to President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Peter D. Fenner.

Foster came to Com21 from Benchmark Electronics, Inc., where he served as vice president-global account manager. He began his career as a designer for General Dynamics General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD) is a defense conglomerate formed by mergers and divestitures, and as of 2006 it is the sixth largest defense contractor in the world[1]. The company has changed markedly in the post-Cold War era of defense consolidation.  and then Xerox that led to positions as VP of Product Planning, Marketing and Business Development.

He was formerly vice president, Telecom products and vice president, Network Systems & Support at Scientific Atlanta and GTECH, respectively. Foster was also the general manager of two transmission products divisions of Digital Switch Corporation, and president and CEO of Licom.
