Columnists--pro and con.I have read other articles by Kevin Clarke Kevin Clarke grew up in Birkenhead, Merseyside. Originally a guitarist, he wrote and directed his first play The Jackpot at the Finborough Theatre in 1987; as a result he was invited to join the first BBC Television Writers training course and commissioned to write for a new series that I felt were simply delusional or disingenuous. But now, in his "Iran Spam" column (June), I feel he has crossed over into outright collaboration with evil. The so-called "threat" from Israel's nuclear weapons is only a threat to Iran's stated plans to annihilate an·ni·hi·late v. an·ni·hi·lat·ed, an·ni·hi·lat·ing, an·ni·hi·lates v.tr. 1. a. To destroy completely: The naval force was annihilated during the attack. the state of Israel. Likewise America's supposed "bellicosity bel·li·cose adj. Warlike in manner or temperament; pugnacious. See Synonyms at belligerent. [Middle English, from Latin bellic " toward Iran is based entirely on Iran's actions and stated goals since the extremist Islamic regime came to power in 1979. I used to think Clarke was just putting his head in the sand. Now I fear he has gotten into bed with the enemies of mankind. Shame on him. Robert Reid Robert Reid is the name of:
Sterling, Va. Patrick McCormick's column "Our brothers' keepers" (June) is extremely articulate, particularly the last sentence: "Friends don't let friends fight and die in an unjust war." Thank you. Diane Kahl Albuquerque, N.M. |
