Columbus State University Registers Success With Precise; Student Registration Bottlenecks Eliminated On SCT Banner Application.

Precise Software Solutions (Nasdaq: PRSE), the leader in optimizing customers' business through Application Performance Management, has helped Columbus State University eliminate bottlenecks in its on-line student registration process. Transactions that took five minutes now take barely a few seconds.

Before installing Precise's software, the university's on-line registration application would grind to a screeching halt when as many as 500 students would simultaneously be trying to enroll in, add, or drop classes at the beginning of each of the school's three semesters. Because of this, the university quickly realized it needed an Application Performance Management solution to cut down the students' five-minute wait.

Columbus State uses the Oracle database-based SCT Banner application from SCT (Nasdaq: SCTC). With a new version of SCT Banner released about every six months, the university constantly uses Precise software to re-tune its updated solution. For example, during the two academic years since Precise solutions were implemented, Columbus State added Banner's capabilities to pay fees and check grades.

The university is pleased with the application's performance, with Andrae noting that students are logging in from the Georgia campus and wherever they live - including students as far away as from South Africa.

"In the next version of Banner, we'll be going to a completely Web-based enrollment, and we'll have to monitor and manage everything, all the time, every day," said Andrae. "Fortunately, I already have that capability with Precise."
