Columbus Ave. BID offering tour June 25.

The Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) is sponsoring its First Annual Concierge Tour for members of the New York Association of Hotel Concierges June 25 with Barbara Adler, executive director of the Columbus Avenue BID and Dr. Phil of "New York Talks & Walks," as tour guides.

The group, comprising concierges from such exclusive hotels as Hilton New York, Waldorf Astoria and The Plaza are scheduled to meet at Maya Schaper Cheese & Antiques between 10:45 and 11:00 a.m., where they will begin with a morning selection of coffee and refreshments. From there, the tour will continue up Columbus Avenue and guests will participate in samplings from various restaurants such as City Grill, North West and SQC. In addition, Senor Swanky's will be offering Margaritas and quesadillas for all participants with vouchers throughout the afternoon and early evening.

"Hotel concierges are among the most important people in New York's tourism industry," says Adler. "Although Columbus Avenue has become a destination for both tourists and New Yorkers alike, we felt the Concierge Tour would be an ideal opportunity to reintroduce the eclectic restaurants, small one-of-a-kind shops, and the wide variety of culturally enriching institutions located in this 15 block area. We have been so fortunate to have Gunter Kleemann, concierge from the Hotel Lucerne, involved with BID activities. It was through his efforts that the tour group was organized."

The tour concludes with a showing of the Space Show at the American Museum of Natural History scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Rose Center for Earth and Space. The First Annual Concierge Tour is limited to approximately 20 attendees from hotels throughout New York City.
