and CRM systems for about two years," said Gary Yager, president, Columbian Bank & Trust. "The biggest reason that we chose Intarsia is because it will reside on our IBM eServer iSeries platform and provides a very cost effective, yet full function CRM system we can continue to grow with."

Columbian Bank & Trust will install Intarsia on a Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  server with future plans to migrate to an IBM eServer iSeries system, which will work with the bank's core management information processing information processing: see data processing.

Utilizing the data content in the Jack Henry system, Intarsia extracts customer information and combines it with third-party business-to-business or business-to-consumer data such as lifestyle and preference information. Intarsia then filters, analyzes, and visually presents the data while utilizing sophisticated techniques for householding and segmentation. Subsequently, Intarsia can then help users analyze customer and product profitability, develop customer and prospect profiles, and develop and track marketing campaigns. Intarsia also allows front-line personnel the ability to utilize this information as they are servicing customers. The system captures critical interactive and information and contact history that the front-line staff gathers from conversations with customers that can provide great insight into their personal needs and preferences. This interactive information, coupled with the transactional and analytical information created by the Jack Henry CIF 20/20 system and third party householding/business data, provides a very powerful, integrated view of the entire customer relationship. This enables everyone in the financial institution to best identify, acquire, foster and retain loyal, profitable customers.

"Utilizing the synergy between SEDONA, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , and Jack Henry, we believe that it will be much easier for us to implement a CRM strategy since we'll be the ones compiling the information," Yager continued. "We won't be dependent on a third-party to drive our processes. Most MCIF systems that we looked at were that way, and as such we felt that Intarsia was a better fit for our needs."

"Combining Intarsia with the IBM iSeries server and Jack Henry's CIF 20/20 allows Columbian Bank & Trust to add value to their infrastructure by adding a CRM component to their back-office systems," said Mike Crofts, vice president of sales, SEDONA Corporation. "Intarsia will provide a comprehensive CRM environment that is rich in functionality and will help the bank with its customer service, customer retention, and profitable, new account acquisition efforts."
