It is located on the Peace River, at its confluence with the Smoky River and Heart River. It is located km ( mi) northwest of Edmonton, Alberta, and km ( mi) northeast of Grande Prairie, Alberta, along (see press release 65 dated 28th, October, 1997). This highly prospective Claim Group lies approximately 36 miles Southwest of the Pure Gold/Ashton/Alberta Energy Kimberlitic Diamond Discovery. Several major crustal crust·al adj. Adj. 1. crustal - of or relating to or characteristic of the crust of the earth or moon features have been identified by the Alberta Geological Survey that are shared by the Ashton discovery area. These include a deepening of the deep crustal marker, the Mohorovicic Discontinuity, a strong, deep-seated magnetic structure and major fault systems striking northeast-southwest roughly parallel to the Peace River Arch structure. Indicator minerals for diamond host rocks have been reported to occur in a belt through the area by the Alberta Geological Survey. The belt is called the Peace River Trend and includes the Mountain Lake and other kimberlitic bodies. The geological environment of this sector of Alberta is analogous to the area of Siberia hosting the world class Mir Diamond Mine.
