Columbia Sportswear Announces Plant Closing, Intent to Consolidate Domestic Operations on West Coast.


PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 1999--

) announced today that it will close its manufacturing and distribution facility in Chaffee, Missouri Chaffee is a city in Scott County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3,044 at the 2000 census. Geography

 in a strategic move to concentrate on its core competencies, reduce costs and enhance operating efficiencies.

The Company anticipates recording a one-time, pre-tax charge in the third quarter of approximately $1.5 million for costs associated with the plant closing.
