Columbia Laboratories announces the acquisition of a new natural bioadhesive technology.


MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 1995--Columbia Laboratories, Inc. (AMEX:COB) today announced it has acquired worldwide rights to a newly developed, protein based, bioadhesive technology for all applications in women's health care.

The inventor, Professor Jean-Marc Alche of th Faculte de Pharmacie, at the University of Clermont-Ferrand Clermont-Ferrand (klĕrmôN`-fĕräN`), city (1990 pop. 140,167), capital of Puy-de-Dôme dept., central France, in Auvergne, on the Tiretaine River. One of the population and industrial centers of the Massif Central, it is home of the Michelin and other tire factories, and of important metallurgical works., France, a world authority on bioadhesive delivery systems, has applied this new technology to buccal buc·cal (bkl)

This natural protein based bioadhesive technology is a complement to Columbia's original patented bioadhesive delivery system and enhances the company's ability to further expand its portfolio of unique products in women's health care. When drugs and hormones are given orally, they are often inactivated after ingestion
