Columbia Capital Adds To Team.


ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 1998--Columbia Capital, a leading venture capital firm active in financing early stage technology and communication companies, is adding to its management team.

By appointing Jane Dietze as vice president, Columbia has once again shown its intent to remain a serious player in the growth and development of the technology arena.

Dietze joined Columbia June 8, 1998 and is devoting her considerable background in the industry to help focus the direct investment group on winners in the software and Internet related niches.

Speaking of Dietze's arrival at Columbia, managing director Phil Herget said, "I'm very excited about working with Jane. With her experience building companies she will add a valuable dimension to the Columbia team."

Before Jane Dietze joined Columbia Capital she was director of International Business Development at Wayfarer Communications. At Wayfarer she established a European business strategy and solidified so·lid·i·fy

Dietze came to Wayfarer via TORSO for which she was president, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , and a co-founder. TORSO was established in 1996 to develop middleware Software that functions as a conversion or translation layer. It is also a consolidator and integrator. Custom-programmed middleware solutions have been developed for decades to enable one application to communicate with another that either runs on a different platform or comes from a  tools for emerging technologies. Dietze negotiated the acquisition of TORSO by Wayfarer in November 1997.

Prior to TORSO, Dietze spent four years at the International Finance Corp. (IFC (Internet Foundation Classes) A class library from Netscape that provides an application framework and graphical user interface (GUI) routines for Java programmers. IFC was later made part of the Java Foundation Classes (JFC). See JFC, AFC and AWT. See also ICF. ), the private investment arm of the World Bank. As manager of two highly successful privitization projects in Russia, she raised and administered a $30 million budget and managed an international staff of 230 people.

Earlier she spent several years on Wall Street working in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department of Goldman, Sachs, & Co.

Along with her significant work experience in industry she has been an Acting Political Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Dietze received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Princeton University Princeton University, at Princeton, N.J.; coeducational; chartered 1746, opened 1747, rechartered 1748, called the College of New Jersey until 1896.
