Thurston finished tied for second in the Midwestern League with South Eugene at 6-2, and the Colts earned the No. 2 seed in the playoffs and a home game next week against Centennial, the No. 2 seed out of the Mt. Hood Conference.

"This feels great," said senior running back Chad Chad (chăd, chäd), Fr. "We knew both teams were on a track for the playoffs and this was the biggest game of the year.

"Coach told us he knew that this would be the game and it came down to it, and I can't describe the feeling of getting in the playoffs and getting a home game."

Thurston's Tim McKee Alexander Timothy ("Tim") McKee (born March 14 1953) was a medley and backstroke swimmer from the United States. Marshfield had 96 yards of total offense and Thurston sacked quarterback Rayce Stacey five times on a night that made defensive coordinator A defensive coordinator typically refers to a coach on a football team in the National Football League or college football who is in charge of the defense. This position aids the head coach a great deal in many ways by delegating play calling to other coaches and allowing the head  Bill Smith proud.

"Our defense has been under the fire of our defensive coordinator, because during the last three weeks our offense has been prolific and he has not been happy with the amount of yards we have given up," Thurston coach Justin Starck said. "They continued to work to get to the level he expects them to be at, and they played at that level tonight."

Thurston scored on its second drive of the game when it drove 87 yards on 10 plays before McKee ran 13 yards for a touchdown on a third-and-10 play. Alber ran five times for 50 yards on the drive.

"We came together there," Alber said. "Our line did an awesome job blocking and we drove down. Brett (Leavitt) did a good job and made some good fakes. We did whatever we needed to get it done."

McKee added a one-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter as Thurston took a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Marshfield drove to the Thurston 20-yard line late in the third quarter before an incomplete pass An incomplete pass is a term in American football which means that a legal forward pass hits the ground before a player on either team gains possession. For example, if the quarterback throws the ball to one of his wide receivers, and the receiver either does not touch it, or tries  on fourth-and-three stopped the drive.

Marshfield's next possession ended with a fumble that was returned 68 yards for a touchdown by Thurston's Tiree Jackson with 10:21 left in the game.

Leavitt was 9-for-14 for 116 yards, and Chris Cassell had three catches for 57 yards and an interception.

McKee rushed for 40 yards as Thurston totaled 219 yards of offense despite the sloppy slop·py

"It was cold and my feet are freezing, but we stuck it out," Alber said. "We had to win to get to the playoffs, so we did what we needed to do."

Thurston won its final four regular-season games to reach the playoffs for the second year in a row, and now the Colts will host a postseason game for the first time since 1997.

Meanwhile, Marshfield finished fourth in league at 5-3 and will miss the playoffs for only the third time in coach Kent Wigle's 18 seasons.

"Thurston is a good football team - give them credit," said Wigle, who lost for the first time in 18 career games at Silke Field. "They are playing well and they have a lot of momentum going into the playoffs."

Amire Souder had 59 yards on 13 carries for Marshfield, which managed 52 rushing yards on 30 attempts.
