SPRINGFIELD - Madie Whitsel scored off an assist from Katie Bidwell in the 55th minute and Thurston hung on for a 2-1 victory over North Eugene in Midwestern League girls soccer on Monday.

Shelby Campbell scored off a pass from Esty Geiger in the 17th minute to give the Highlanders a 1-0 halftime lead, but Thurston's Brittany Pierce tied the score in the 49th minute off a pass from Katie Butler.
