Chris Vitus was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and J.J. Mascolo had three singles and two RBIs to lead Marist (15-3) to an 8-2 nonleague triumph over host Wilsonville. Chad Lynch and Brad Parker each had two home runs and five RBIs to lead Douglas to a 20-8 nonleague triumph over host Pleasant Hill. Teammate Ethan Robbins had a home run, three singles and two RBIs. Tyrell Poggemeyer led Pleasant Hill with a solo homer and two singles. Poggemeyer collected four hits, two for extra bases, and three RBIs to pace host Pleasant Hill to a 12-1 victory over Newport. Kevin Graf had a triple and two doubles as Umpqua Valley Christian collected 22 hits en route to a 9-3 and 12-2 nonleague doubleheader sweep of visiting Reedsport. Softball Darrah King scored on a passed ball in the second inning for the game's only run as host Thurston moved into a tie for third place with Springfield by handing Lebanon a 1-0 Midwestern League defeat. Freshman Amanda Miller pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts for the Colts. Katie Springer allowed only two hits while striking out two for the Warriors. Jessica Slocum was 3-for-5 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs and Traci Garner was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Junction City to a 10-1 nonleague win over host Yoncalla. Ashley Fielder was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Kayla Rauschert was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Junction City to a 6-0 nonleague win over host North Douglas. Ashleigh Meza was 3-for-3 with a double for Yoncalla. Sammi Palmer was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored and Sara Martin pitched a complete game, striking out four and giving up four hits and no walks, as host North Douglas (8-3 East Division) handed Yoncalla a 3-1 Big Fir League defeat. Nina Rudd had a double in each game to lead host North Bend to a 7-3 and 9-8 Far West League doubleheader sweep of Brookings. Kelsey Hamilton had four hits, including two doubles, and Courtney McGinnis also had four hits, including a triple, to spark host Gold Beach to a 5-2 and 5-4 nonleague doubleheader sweep of Oakland. Track and field Andrew Perri won the 400 in a time of 50.65, Brad Taylor captured the 1,500 in 4:12.38 and Kevin Yell won the long jump with a leap of 20-2 3/4 to lead Oakridge to third place at the Mazama Invitational in Klamath Falls. Henley won the boys title with 185 points. In the girls meet, the Warriors' Orie Gamez set a meet record in the 200 with a time of 25.30, and Zoe Skordahl cleared 5-0 to take second in the high jump. Oakridge was eighth with 36 points. Boys golf Chris Edwards shot an 87 and Brett Tharp had a 90 to lead Sutherlin to the first-day lead at the Far West League district tournament at Salmon Run Golf Course in Brookings. The Bulldogs had a team score of 366, followed by North Bend with 369. North Bend's Kip Martin was the first-day leader with an 85. The tournament concludes Monday at Myrtle Creek Golf Course. |
