NUNEATON Colts coach Chris Southall is out to lift the club's relegation RELEGATION, civil law. Among the Romans relegation was a banishment to a certain place, and consequently was an interdiction of all places except the one designated.

Nuns' youngsters take on favourites Bedford in the English Clubs Colts Cup final at Northampton Saints' Franklin's Gardens Ground.

The talented teenagers from Liberty Way have seen off a host of local rivals including Earlsdon, Moseley and Dudley Kingswinford to reach the national final.

And victory tomorrow, along with the successful defence of the Colts County Cup against Old Coventrians a week later, would help ease the pain their senior team's relegation this season.

for Nuns at the moment because he believes that a bright future awaits.

"It will be a nice end to the season if the colts can win silverware," said Southall. "The club was very disappointed that they were relegated but this is a chance to give them something to hold on to for the future after the way the season finished.

"This is a national cup final so it's also a fantastic thing for the whole town. I can't remember any other time that a team from Nuneaton has reached a national final so that just shows what a fantastic achievement this is for us. Nuns' Colts, made up of 17, 18 and 19-year-olds, face a tough challenge against the professional set-up of Bedford, whose first team play in National One.

However Nuneaton have their own youngsters who have tasted rugby at senior level - centre Will Cave has a healthy amount of first team experience under his belt while at least six other colts have also rubbed shoulders with the older players.

And while Southall admits that next season might be too early, he believes that this colts team could ultimately be handed the task of guiding Nuneaton back to the third tier of English rugby.
