Coltec names Thomas Johns vice president, business development.


CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1997--Coltec Industries (NYSE NYSE

:COT) has named Thomas C. Johns vice president, business development.

Mr. Johns, 46, who reports to David D. Harrison, executive vice president and chief financial officer, is responsible for identifying acquisition candidates and new business opportunities.

Mr. Harrison said, "Tom Johns is a long-service employee whose experiences in sales, marketing and general management make him uniquely qualified for this position. As vice president, business development, Tom will have a significant impact as he helps us achieve the objectives of our Coltec 2000 initiative."

Garlock has a global presence, with 1,887 employees, at 15 facilities, in eight countries.  unit as a business systems analyst. He advanced through increasingly responsible positions at Garlock including vice president and general manager of industrial gasketing, vice president of sales, and president of Garlock's Industrial Sealing Products unit. He was named president of Coltec's Farnam Sealing Systems Division in 1994.
